BMORE JEWEL:Babe

For my photo slide show, I'm profiling Lisa Ponzoli and her boutique, located in Federal Hill, Babe (http://tinyurl.com/ltdtc2).
Ponzoli's boutique has been open since November 2007 and she built her boutique not only on a vast knowledge and experience in the fashion world, but also on the inexpensive fashions in her shop. There is nothing over $200 in her boutique! What a recession pocket relief.
Outside of reasonable price tags, Babe is known for it premium demin including designers Hudson and Chip & Pepper.

The New Trend: Plus Size

The article Fashion First, Whatever the Size (http://tinyurl.com/mu58ds) reports on a branch of fashion that is becoming more openly discussed, plus size fashion. Ruth La Ferla, the author, goes in depth--more than I've seen before--into this once fashion faux pas.

The story discusses how many designers and retailers are not only embracing plus size fashion but making it readily available in their stores.

“The plus-size market is an attractive piece of the fashion business,” said Fiona Ross.

Ross who is the director of, Topshop's Evans line--which is based in London, but available online to America (http://tinyurl.com/35f8c5) --is one of many retailers that include Forever 21, and Hot Topics division Torrid, to cater to the plus size audience.

The article isn't missing any facts. If anything it covered the bittersweet-ness of this issue. Yes, it's most definitely exciting that designers are embracing plus size fashion and looking at it as such, but on the other hand we're seeing that our country is becoming more overweight. La Ferla tackling that issue, I feel added to the story and gave it some well needed balance.

Tween Fashionista

Everyone remembers what they were wearing in Junior High and High School. Whether you regret it or not, it was still your fash and style during those vital expressive times.

Tween fashion is no Marc Jaboc RTW runway, but there is no lack of excitement in the offices of Girls Life magazine. Associate editor Katie Abbondanza dishes on the perks of pre-teen fashionistas.

TU Fashion Club Story

I'm planning to talk to the officers of Towson's Fashion Club, for my audio story. The story is going to a profile of the group, and what they do to promote campus fashion!

Tropical Fashion Trip

With summer tip-toeing back into our lives, it's time to trade in Winter sweaters for summer fashion. This article (http://tinyurl.com/nlf29m) from The Washington Post, gives great insight into summer's trend, tropical prints.

There's a helpful quotes from Besty Fisher, owner of the eponymous boutique in D.C.'s Dupont Circle:
"Look for structure and tailoring to give the pieces a polished appearance"

The Post's article covers the basics. Though the article is a great trend watch piece, it stops short of discussing the importance of accessories in this trend. We all know accessories are the bow on a perfectly wrapped present!

So I put together a little outfit, check it out:
